The Budget Committee is a group of students who are responsible for fairly distributing the SAF (Student Activity Fee) to organizations, events, and projects with the sole intention of benefiting the larger student population.
The SAF is the Student Activity Fee, a fee which every Undergraduate Student at Stevens pays $325. The budget committee distributes the SAF to student organizations for on-campus events and general body meetings (GBMs). The Spring 2026 total SAF is $1,357,525!

Treasurers of student organizations work closely with the budget committee, specifically during Sunday night Budget Meetings, to discuss their organization's budget requests and to ensure student organizations get what they need.
One of the finance team's latest projects is a Budget Workflow that cuts out requests such as food used for a general body meeting, or small expenditures that would almost under every circumstance be approved by the budget committee.
This system ensures that all requests heard during Budget Committee meetings are contentious, and eliminates the previous structure of treasurers and members of the budget committee having to address 70+ budget requests in one sitting.
The SGA's Finance Team consists of the Vice President of Finance, Assistant Vice President of Finance, the Budget Committee Co-Chair, and the Treasurer.

Membership in the Budget Committee requires appointment by the Budget Committee Co-Chair and approval by the Senate.
