Health Insurance Waiver

Health Insurance Waiver

Waiver & Enrollment Deadlines (2025–26)

September 15 – Undergraduate and Graduate Students
February 2 – Spring Admits

If you do not submit a waiver by the deadline, you will be automatically enrolled in SHIP and charged. Late enrollment is only possible if you experience a qualifying life event.
Waiver Process for Domestic Students
If you already have an ACA-compliant U.S. health plan, you may opt out of SHIP by completing the waiver form at www.universityhealthplans.com/stevens.
Before waiving, compare your plan with SHIP to ensure it provides:
Local access to doctors, specialists, behavioral health care providers, hospitals, labs, and pharmacies.
Full U.S. ACA-compliant coverage (not short-term, travel insurance, or out-of-state Medicaid/HMO/EPO with no local network).
Failure to waive by the deadline = automatic SHIP enrollment and billing.
