Details

Anxious for back-to-school season to start? Can’t wait for campus life to begin? Check out our Pre-Orientation programs for early access and an even stronger start to your first year at Stevens.

Pre-Orientation will take place from August 23–25, 2026. Pre-Orientation is an exciting opportunity to get to connect with campus, the local area, and your peers in small group settings before the start of orientation! Activities will begin in the afternoon on August 23 and will conclude on August 25 prior to New Student Orientation on August 26. If you have specific questions, please email preorientation@stevens.edu.

All students who are registered and confirmed for Pre-Orientation will move into their fall housing assignment on Sunday, August 23 between 8:00 AM-12:00 PM. You will reside in your housing for each night of Pre-Orientation through Orientation. More information about specific move-in times will be forthcoming.

August 25 only! Hoping for a more low-key pre-orientation program? The Less Quack While You Unpack program is only one day long and is designed as a lower-stress, lower-stimulation experience that will familiarize you with campus buildings and resources, in addition to providing activities on campus that will allow you to get to know your peers. Students who register for this program will move into their fall housing assignment on Tuesday, August 25.

Please register for only one Pre-Orientation program.

Explore Your Neighborhood

Discover your new community through this interactive experience where you will see the sights and sounds of Hoboken and New York City. Engage in tours of NYC and Hoboken neighborhoods, visit local landmarks, and more.

Flavors of New York

New York is known for its amazing food! Try out the fantastic cuisine while you explore various neighborhoods and make friends. All food comes with the price of the registration fee.

Outdoor Adventure

The Outdoor Adventure program empowers students to become involved in various facets of campus and community life. Taking care of yourself, working with others, and giving back to your community!  Tackle a ropes course with your peers, engage with the Hoboken community, and learn more about yourself in this fun-filled and rewarding Pre-Orientation.

First Generation and/or Limited Income (FLI)

FLI Pre-Orientation centers on the experience of first-generation and/or limited income (FLI) students. Get answers to your questions about succeeding in college, make new friends, meet faculty and staff, explore the local area, and get tips on using campus resources in a fun and empowering environment! Families are invited to stay with their student during the first afternoon of events to enjoy a complimentary lunch and get helpful information. A first-generation college student is someone whose parent(s) or legal guardian(s) have not graduated from a four-year college or university. Students who self-identify as limited income may receive a Pell Grant or funding through New Jersey’s EOF program, but any student interested in these resources is welcome to participate in FLI Pre-Orientation.

All incoming Clark Scholars are required to attend FLI Pre-Orientation

Performing Arts
All the world's a stage! Experience the performing arts both on campus and in NYC while meeting arts professionals and other students interested in the arts. Workshops in improv, musical theater and backstage tech are included, as well as jam sessions for the musicians and trips to experience NYC theater. No experience necessary, just an open mind and an interest in the arts.

1-Day Only (August 25): Less-Quack While You Unpack: A Low-Stress, Low-Stimulation Start to Campus Life

If you’re seeking a quieter, more relaxed move-in experience, our Less-Quack While You Unpack Pre-Orientation Program is designed with you in mind! This full one-day program offers a lower-stress, low-stimulation environment, providing a gentle introduction to campus life. You'll have the opportunity to familiarize yourself with campus buildings and resources without overwhelming crowds or noise. Additionally, the program includes activities that encourage meaningful connections with the others in this program, giving you the chance to ease into your college experience at your own pace. The Less-Quack program is here to ensure that your transition to campus is as smooth and comfortable as possible!
