 Preparing for Arrival

Welcome to the Graduate Flock!

Graduate school can sometimes feel isolating due to the intense nature of academic pursuits. Engaging in extracurricular activities often helps mitigate feelings of loneliness and isolation by creating opportunities for friendships, mentorships, and fosters a sense of belonging within the Stevens community. The Office of Graduate Student Life welcomes you to the Stevens flock and encourages your involvement in on-campus activities!

If you missed the webinar on August 14, please view the recording below and the attached presentation document.

Getting involved in campus activities can be a real game changer when it comes to your graduate student experience!

A significant aspect of the Stevens graduate school experience lies in engaging beyond the classroom, which can be facilitated through active participation in campus organizations. As new graduate ducks, you can join graduate student-led organizations via Ducklink to explore the breadth of involvement opportunities available to you. All events and memberships are open to the entire Stevens graduate community.

So what are you waiting for? Let's FLOCK together!

Finding Your Fit

Excited about getting involved but not sure where to begin? Navigating the myriad of graduate student-led organizations and programs available here at Stevens can be daunting but rewarding, and there are several ways for you to do just that starting with the Involvement Fair.

The New Graduate Student Involvement Fair will take place on September 5th from 1:00 PM- 3:00 PM on the Stevens campus. This is a great way for you as an incoming graduate student to "shop" around for clubs or organizations that may interest you. Highlights of attending the Involvement Fair include:

  • Meeting current organization officers
  • Learning about each organization's upcoming meetings and semester events
  • Gaining insight into each organization's mission and general expectations for membership
  • Networking while grabbing some Stevens swag from your favorite graduate student-led clubs and organizations
  • Meeting Stevens departments such as the Writing Center and Financial Aid
Graduate Student Life also offers several semester-long social and professional programs to assist in your transition to Stevens. We offer both off-campus ticketed events and on-campus free events. Some upcoming events to look forward to this semester are:
  • Broadway Shows in the heart of New York City
  • Off-campus restaurant socials curated for graduate students only
  • Leadership Labs
  • Conversation with the Stevens Cabinet
  • Campus-wide tradition: Winter Wonderland
  • Sporting Events
  • Movie on the Lawn
  • Friendsgiving Lunch
Remain up to date with information concerning ticket sales and semester-long programming via Ducklink and our Instagram page @stevensgradlife.

Mentorship Matters

The Master’s Peer Mentor Program serves as a platform for new students to connect with existing Master’s students, facilitating their adjustment to graduate life within their first semester at Stevens. The pairing of mentors and mentees is done by considering your academic focus and mutual hobbies, typically assigning one to two mentees per mentor.

Engaging in the Master's Peer Mentor Program will equip you with the necessary skills to foster meaningful connections and benefit from peer-to-peer interaction, enhancing your overall academic experience. Click on the picture of Atilla to sign up today!
